Write Newsletters that speak to people. Especially when it’s all about you.

Alright, you titan of industry 🏆, you life-hacking optimiser, you special little bird 🐣

(shouldn’t you be cold plunging right now?🧊)

While your overworked, lifeless AI agent

(they’re so tired) named “Bob”

is balancing your schedule and draining our water reserves💧

We’re going to newsletter about newsletters

(whoa, so meta, it must be smart)

Are you struggling to connect with your audience?

The people who recognize that you really are that special?

The ones who see the value you bring and keep coming back for more?

If you don’t leverage a newsletter, you should.

And if you have a newsletter, why haven’t I read it?

(because I only read cereal boxes and self-help books📚)

We chatted with two amazing SMEs who reset the reasoning for communication with a subscriber list.

(and one of them was very charming 😏, I’ll let you figure out which one)

We’re going to challenge the always-be-closing mentality and push you to just be yourself

(or a more likeable version of yourself).

Buckle up, baby bird 🐥🎢

This is an adventure.

It’s going to get a little weird, and it’s not going to be easy, but it’ll be worth it.

(probably, I mean, you never know)

And I’ll be there

Every step of the way

As we embark on an amazing journey

To save your soul 🙏

(maybe not that. More like finding a really great newsletter strategy. But you get it)

📬 Okay. Let this newsletter start newslettering your newsletter.

(we’re going to newsletter so hard) 💪😤

🤢 Your newsletters smell BAD when they:

  • Lack a genuine POV 🎯

  • Prioritize selling over connection 💸

  • Don’t clearly define the problem the reader is likely experiencing 🔍

  • Are systematically misplaced, or lack the follow-up infrastructure to make the most of the readers’ attention

tl;dr they miss the point.

Luckily for you, we sat down with David Feldman and Josh Holtzman in two different interviews

(one is charming, one is just really dreamy, I’d have to say)

And listen, they aren’t messing around. They are SMEs, not SMRs 🎓

(a.k.a subject matter rookies)

🗺️ Every Hero Needs a Guide

Your newsletter is NOT the Hero of this story. 🚫🦸

(stop making it about you)

Save that main character energy for your ads, babe.

Your newsletter is just a moment in the reader’s journey.

They’re the hero, so check it 👇

  1. Your reader has a product or service (comfort zone) 🛋️

  2. But they want something (better conversions, new pipelines 📈, different organizational structure, etc)

  3. So they enter an unfamiliar situation (that’s where your newsletter comes in)

Your newsletter will guide them; that’s the point, so the Hero can…

  1. Adapt to the unfamiliar situation, and

  2. Get what they wanted (and ideally, what they wanted was YOUR product or service - but that’s beyond the newsletter)

And sure, there’s a price to pay on any Hero’s journey, but they will return to their familiar situation, changed (hopefully, for the better) 🌱

Your newsletter is Gandolf, Mr. Miyagi, and Yoda bear, all rolled into one.

Yoda was a bear, right? I always get confused

David Feldman gives us a great conversation zeroing in on what role your newsletter should be playing.

🌈 You've Had the Answer All Along, Dorothy

You already know how to produce a great newsletter (most choose not to) 💅

Dorothy was the worst, am I right?

But the answer was inside of her the whole time 🫀

(I guess, I don’t really remember)

A newsletter is supposed to be a genuine, sincere, trust-inspiring guide. 🤝

(or a little obnoxious, to get your attention) 📣

You write what you know. And fortunately, no one knows your product or service better than you.

To take it a step further, Josh Holtzman, in our sit-down chat, talks about being conversational, keeping it simple 💬, enjoying the process, and structuring your newsletter to extend engagement (and ultimately convert).📈

🎬 THAT’S A WRAP

So how’d we do? Did I do a good job?

(Please say yes. It’s how I define my self-worth) 😭

Did we highlight a problem you may be trying to solve?

Do you feel supported, guided, and prepared to pursue your goal? 🎯

Have we sold you anything? 🤔 Do you feel pressure to buy, or have we only offered tools and insights for your journey?

Are you receiving value AND having fun? 🎉💡

To your sales success— whatever you're confessing to 🚀
